Non-CDL Transit Operator
The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for Non-CDL Transit Operators to provide responsible skilled duties in the transport of the general public; to perform preventative maintenance and minor repair to assigned vehicles; and to provide staff support to the Transit Department.

Essential duties and responsibilities include :
- Drive and maintain a transit route and schedule; transport passengers along route or to scheduled appointments; assist passengers in loading and unloading as needed; operate specialized loading and unloading equipment to assist wheelchair passengers in a safe and timely manner.
 - Tactfully greet passengers; answer questions and provide information to the general public regarding transit schedules, rules, regulations, routes and other information; refer sensitive inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff.
 - Collect, count and record transit revenues for assigned route; provide route information to passengers; prepare appropriate reports and daily manifests.
 - Operate a two-way radio; report accidents and road hazards; provide staff support in accident investigations.
 - Prepare and inspect assigned vehicle for daily operations; check and maintain fluid levels; perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs as necessary; maintain and submit vehicle mileage records as requested.
 - Ensure safety regulations, rules and codes are enforced and obeyed by passengers in assigned vehicle; report persistent violators.
 - Maintain contact with dispatch and report on current position and conditions affecting the operation of the route as required.
 
Minimum qualifications include any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be :
Experience : Six months of driving experience and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the City of Fayetteville driving standard.Training : Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.Licensing & Certifications : Required : A current DOT Medical Card within 30 days of employment; possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability. Preferred : First Aid certification; CPR certification.From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT Physical, background check and driving history check.
