Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position with night shifts and floating requirements in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospitalUnit includes 16 L&D beds, 13 antepartum beds, and 3 OR suites for C-sectionsPatient population includes high-risk pregnancies, multiple births, and patients with conditions such as preeclampsia and diabetesExpect to manage titratable medications such as Pitocin and insulinUnit follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratiosShift is 12 hours, 7p-7a, with weekend shifts as requiredRequired to float to other nearby hospital locations and the high-risk antepartum unitEMR is EpicCare Inpatient and EFM uses Centricity Perinatal-GETravelers are the first assigned to float among staffNo on-call responsibilitiesDuties include providing patient care in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and circulating in the OR during C-sectionsCharge nurse present on each shift and does not take a patient assignment unless absolutely necessaryCertified Surgical Techs (CSTs) support each shiftOB Laborist, neonatology, and anesthesia are in-house 24 / 7Nurses are not required to manage respiratory therapy equipment beyond initial neonatal resuscitationScrubs are provided by the facilityOrientation includes one shift in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and the ORUnit accommodates 320-400 deliveries per monthHoliday coverage may be required depending on unit needsBlock scheduling and special scheduling requests are not acceptedRequirements
Active ID or Compact RN license required at time of considerationBSN requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experienceCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, AWHONN Fetal MonitoringExperience circulating in OR and with LDR requiredMust be able to titrate Pitocin and insulin dripsExperience with Epic EMR preferredSubmission requires a copy of driver's licenseMust provide two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 yearsMust live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)Permanent employees must be separated for one year before applying as a travelerBenefits
