Shift / Hours : On-call, scheduled coverage days; must be available 24 hours for call-back. Report on-site within 1 hour of notification as needed.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and urgent consultative nephrology services, including critical and acute care for patients in the Emergency Department and hospital.
- Participate in daily ICU rounds for patients requiring nephrology consultation.
- Manage urgent outpatient issues, including telephone consults, abnormal test results, and provider / nurse inquiries.
- Support Family Medicine Residency (FMR) Program education and training, supervising residents in inpatient nephrology care.
- Serve as Medical Director or collaborate with the Group's Medical Director to coordinate nephrology services, oversee staff, and participate in hospital committees, staff conferences, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clinical competencies and provide expert consultative services across core nephrology disciplines, including :
- Fluid, electrolyte, and acid / base disorders
- Acute and chronic kidney injury / disease
- Inpatient dialysis (intermittent and continuous), peritoneal dialysis, and dialysis access management
- Coordination of care with interdisciplinary teams, outpatient dialysis units, and external providers
- Placement of temporary hemodialysis catheters using bedside ultrasound
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Defense Health Agency / DoD / Air Force policies.
- Document all patient interactions, orders, and procedures accurately and timely, following coding and recordkeeping standards.
- Participate in hospital performance improvement and resolve patient care or service-related issues within responsibility.
Education & Training :
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school in the U.S. or Canada (or equivalent certification for foreign graduates).Completion of an ABIM-recognized Internal Medicine residency.Fellowship in Nephrology accredited and accepted by the Defense Health Agency.Certifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS) – requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – requiredCertification must be current through the American Heart Association or approved training program.Board Certification :
Board certified or board eligible in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
