About The Position

General job duties.  Types of procedures required.

Bedside nurse position for CCU and Med / Surg population (units combined).  Duties would include, but not be limited to,  patient assessment, documentation of findings in EMR, administering medications, collecting vital signs, performing nursing tasks such as IV starts, NG placement, and notifying physicians as needed,

Equipment utilized in the unit / dept.

Epic documentation system (EMR), pyxis machines are used to dispense medications, bar code med scanning for medication administration, bladder scanner, telemetry monitoring equipment, vital signs monitors, etc.

Required skills and minimum years of experience.

For CCU population, we would request two years of hospital experience in a more critical setting such as a step down unit or ICU.

Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required.

RN license required, BLS thru AHA required, ACLS thru AHA required. NIH strongly preferred.

Shift or schedule requirements.

Will not work alone.  No call.  Requirement is to work at least 3 weekend shifts per four week schedule.

Floating to other units / departments.

This individual would not be required to float to other units. Med Surg and CCU units are combined at this location.

Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept.

22 beds, 18 Med / Surg and 4 CCU.

Nurse to patient ratio of this unit.

5 : 1 Med / Surg, CCU variable

Dress Code :

Caribbean Blue scrubs.  May wear black, white, or Caribbean blue shirt under scrub top or a jacket of any of these colors over scrubs.

Tell us about the unit / department specific training and orientation program.

There would be a required two day class for Epic orientation.  Unit orientation would be as needed.

Orientation will be Mon-Fri week 1 and Mon-Tues week 2 - 8 hour days.  MANDATORY ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL 7 DAYS OF ORIENTATION.
