PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location : Ithaca, NY 14850 (New York healthcare job)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 1 / 6 / 2025 – End : 4 / 7 / 2025)

Healthcare Setting : Prep & Recovery Unit (PCU)

Shift : 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Call Requirement : One 24-hour weekend call per 6-week rotation; 2-6 weekday calls per 6-week period depending on staffing

Hours of Operation : 5am – 10pm

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1,720 - $1,840

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York State or compact state)

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Prep & Recovery, or acute care nursing job

BLS certification (AHA required)

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Ability to participate in required call rotations

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Prep & Recovery Unit

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans

Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed

Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and ongoing care

Respond to emergencies and participate in scheduled call rotations
