This position is at our Magnus Inc location where we have been the leading manufacturer of traction motor support bearings for the railroad industry. Since 1885, we have served locomotive manufacturers and repair shops with axle thrust bearings, locomotive journal bearings, thrust washers and other special bearings in high-leaded bronze.

We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor with a strong mechanical background to lead daily operations in our manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, understands the importance of quality and efficiency, and takes pride in developing and mentoring their team.

Responsibilities / Job Duties :

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day production activities to meet quality, safety, and delivery goals.
  • Review and interpret mechanical and operational drawings to ensure product compliance with prints and written specifications.
  • Measure and evaluate product features using precision measuring equipment; ensure proper calibration and use.
  • Monitor scrap rates, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate product and process performance to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Utilize SPC (Statistical Process Control) to monitor production trends and drive process improvements.
  • Lead, train, and develop production personnel to build a strong, capable team.
  • Plan and schedule production runs, including changeovers and equipment setups.
  • Assess machine capability and schedule maintenance or downtime as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain cost-effective production practices while meeting deadlines and quality targets.
  • Ensure operator training meets job requirements; cross-train employees to maximize workforce flexibility.
  • Enforce and model strict adherence to all safety and standard operating procedures; provide ongoing safety training and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of expendable supplies within budget guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational goals.

Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Technical degree in Machine Technology or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical background with a solid understanding of production processes, equipment capability, and maintenance planning.
  • Experience with CNC machining and setup preferred, including knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds, and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical and operational drawings and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, quality systems, and precision measurement tools.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and develop production personnel.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of driving efficiency, maintaining product quality, and meeting production goals in a cost-effective manner.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing all safety procedures.
