Job Description
Under the direction of the Branch Manager or Field Leader, the Mobile Examiner's primary responsibility is to provide coverage in the field to ensure mobile exams are completed accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment for applicants, clients, and employees. Perform all aspects of an insurance exam, including specimen collection and processing, following established practices and procedures. May act as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource for new employees who have completed the required phlebotomy training program.
Pay Range
$14.59 - $26.71 / hour
Benefits Information : Quest Diagnostics provides a 401(k) Plan with eligibility after one month and a fully vested company match up to 5% of pay after one year.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and on time.
- Collect specimens according to established procedures and conduct in-center and mobile exams, including taking basic vitals, medical histories, venipuncture, urine collection, and EKGs. Collect specimens for pre-employment drug screenings and other Quest Diagnostics services as required.
- Complete application packets and other paperwork accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, and split specimens as required by test orders; upload and complete cases in the portal within 24 hours on weekdays and within 48 hours on weekends.
- Package specimens for transport and ship to the indicated lab.
- Transport specimens, supplies, equipment, and materials safely and timely; maintain records of specimens collected each day.
- Follow the Examiner's Manual; adhere to all departmental policies, protocols, and procedures; maintain phlebotomy logs and keep error rate at or below 3%.
- Confirm exams with clients the day before the appointment and update case status at confirmation; correct non-applicant errors within 24 hours; submit time, travel, and expense logs as directed; clock in / out as required.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct; communicate effectively with customers, agents, applicants, coworkers, and the public; escalate unresolved problems to the appropriate Manager or Supervisor.
- Assist with facility / area maintenance, inventory counts, supply orders, and SOP implementation; support training and mentoring for new staff; travel up to a 25-mile radius and maintain availability in ExamView.
Qualifications
Required Work Experience : Minimum 100 documented successful blood draws; minimum one year of phlebotomy experience. Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients is a plus.Preferred Work Experience : Urine or hair follicle collection and EKG experience.Physical and Mental Requirements : Sitting and standing for periods, driving to assignments, lifting up to 40 pounds, multitasking, flexible availability including weekends / holidays / overtime, valid driver's license and clean driving record with reliable transportation.Skills : Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good organization; basic Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software; able to make decisions per established procedures and seek guidance as needed; capable of working in a rapidly changing environment.Education, Licenses, Certifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent; Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.
