Job description8+ years of experience in the electrical preconstruction / design, with a strong focus on data centers and other mission-critical facilities. Strong proficiency in electrical estimating software (Trimble / Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar). Deep understanding of power distribution, redundancy, and low-voltage systems. Proven experience leading design-assist, design-build, or conceptual budgeting efforts for large electrical systems. Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills. Lead the electrical scope development, estimating, and preconstruction planning for data center and mission-critical projects from concept through GMP. Collaborate with owners, general contractors, design teams, and trade partners to define project requirements and ensure alignment with schedule, budget, and technical goals. Evaluate design documents for completeness, constructability, and compliance with code and industry best practices. Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates at all design stages (conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents). Develop and maintain accurate take-offs, budgets, and cost models for large-scale data center electrical systems (medium voltage, UPS, generators, grounding, controls, lighting, etc.). Lead value engineering efforts and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability or redundancy standards. Manage subcontractor bid packages, prequalifications, and scope reviews. Review and interpret electrical designs, single-line diagrams, and system layouts. Collaborate with engineering teams on design-assist and design-build efforts to optimize system performance and constructability. Ensure all preconstruction deliverables meet the requirements for Tier level, redundancy, and commissioning expectations typical of data center environments. Interface with project management, operations, and field teams to ensure a smooth handoff from preconstruction to construction. Present budgets, design analyses, and preconstruction reports to internal and external stakeholders. Mentor junior estimators and preconstruction staff.
