Position Overview :
Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Nutrition Services Aide / Dishwasher to join our Nutrition Services team. This role is essential in supporting food preparation and sanitation efforts, with a focus on cold food handling and dishwashing duties. The ideal candidate will be committed to food safety, teamwork, and providing excellent service to patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare cold food items according to production sheets and tray cards for patients, Meals-On-Wheels, Willow Ridge, and cafeteria services.
- Accurately set up tickets and condiment holders based on census sheets.
- Record meal counts and special item needs for cooks; maintain monthly count sheets.
- Prepare and deliver nourishments and snacks throughout the day.
- Stock juices, shakes, and refrigerate fruits as needed for upcoming menus.
- Label hot food containers and prepare cold items for Meals-On-Wheels delivery.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including regular counter sanitization.
- Perform weekly and daily cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Assist with vegetable prep, salads, desserts, and other cold food items.
- Serve customers in the cafeteria, handle meal charges, and make change.
- Operate dishwashing equipment and store clean dishes appropriately.
- Attend monthly Nutrition Services and health system in-service trainings.
- Support other staff members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements :
High School diploma or GED.Completion of Mandatory Reporting within 6 months of hire (renew every 5 years).Completion of Food Safety Course within 6 months of hire (renew as required).Basic computer skills and ability to work flexible hours.Preferred Experience :
Prior experience in food handling or meal preparation in a service environment preferred.On-the-job training provided.Knowledge and Skills :
Understanding of proper food safety and sanitation guidelines.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work with diverse audiences and adapt to changing healthcare environments.Excellent organization and time management skills.Benefits :
