Physical Therapist

Job Summary :

This position is for a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting. The therapist will be responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients, working as part of a team to ensure quality patient care. The role requires weekend availability and flexibility in start times within established guidelines.

Responsibilities :

• Provide physical therapy services to patients in an acute care setting.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
• Assist patients in their routine activities of daily living.
• Perform range of motion exercises.
• Ambulate patients.
• Position patients and provide skin care.
• Assist with feeding and meal delivery.
• Assist with routine hygiene care including toileting and incontinent care, as well as appropriate oral and personal hygiene.
• Collect patient data and specimens.
• Obtain and record health, weights, vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain assessment and I&O.
• Communicate patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
• Perform incentive spirometry.
• Transport patients.
• Prepare for diagnostic tests.
• Assist rehab therapists.
• Perform pulse oximetry / oxygen set up in oxygen therapy.
• Prepare room (supplies).
• Provide post mortem care.
• Prepare for admission and discharge.
• Assist nurse in emergency situations.
• Maintain and clean equipment.
• Perform suction (oral, naso pharynx).
• Perform blood sugar finger sticks.
• Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
• Perform EKGs (department specific responsibility).
• Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
• Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems.
• Perform selected patient registration activities.
• Coordinate equipment / supply needs.
• Notify appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
