Job Overview
Food & Customer Service is our focus – we give a fork! As a member of our Front of House team, you’re the face of Farmer J—the first point of contact for every guest. You’ll take orders, ring up purchases, serve food with care, and keep the front of house clean, organized, and welcoming. FOH team members are cross-trained on a variety of roles to support smooth service and maintain the highest standards of hospitality, product knowledge, and guest experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet every guest with warmth, energy, and a positive attitude
- Take guest orders accurately and efficiently, using the point-of-sale (POS) system
- Process guest payments quickly and accurately, handling cash, cards, and digital payments
- Serve food and drinks with care, ensuring presentation and accuracy match Farmer J’s standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-of-house area at all times
- Restock utensils, napkins, condiments, and other front-of-house supplies as needed
- Clear tables and assist with general cleaning duties throughout the shift
- Stay knowledgeable about menu items and ingredients to answer guest questions
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and barista team members to ensure smooth service
- Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines, including proper handwashing and sanitizing
- Keep calm under pressure and bring positive energy to every shift
- Jump in to support teammates during busy periods—because at Farmer J, we give a fork about each other, too!
Qualifications
- 1 year in high-volume, high-quality fast-casual or café-style restaurants
- Comfortable using tools like Toast, Microsoft Office, and other basic systems
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Appreciation for real food : scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and sustainable practices
- Clear, positive communicator with a team-first mindset
- Calm under pressure and quick to adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
- Follow written and verbal instructions and have basic math and computer skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business require
