Job Description

The Communications Specialist II (Contract) will play a key role in supporting the Learning & Talent Development Communications team by managing and coordinating communications initiatives across multiple channels. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining an editorial calendar, preparing talking points and scripts, creating content for blogs and intranet pages, managing internal and external newsletters, and producing PowerPoint presentations. The specialist will also provide administrative and project support, ensuring timely delivery, accuracy, and alignment with organizational messaging and branding standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the team’s editorial calendar, ensuring timely scheduling and distribution of communications.
  • Consolidate content from team members and coordinate weekly multi-channel communications, including intranet, email, newsletters, and social media.
  • Prepare talking points, scripts, and other supporting content for internal campaigns and messaging initiatives.
  • Create, write, and produce internal and external newsletters and personal storytelling blogs to highlight employee experiences and organizational culture.
  • Design and develop PowerPoint presentations for internal communications and learning initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and project support, including timelines, action plans, and deliverable tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure messaging is consistent with organizational goals and policies.
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards.
  • Maintain a uniform editorial style and ensure quality assurance across all communications materials.
  • Stay current on relevant policies, procedures, and organizational values to ensure compliance in all communications.
  • Work independently on assignments and seek guidance only for complex or high-priority projects.

Qualifications

  • College-level coursework or professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of communication, publication, and multimedia production processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), graphics software, content management systems, and other relevant tools.
  • Advanced skills in copywriting, editing, proofreading, and project management.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work tactfully with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing conceptual approaches and content solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Preferred :  Experience in project management, managing timelines, resources, and deadlines for successful project execution.
  • Preferred :  Familiarity with the organization’s mission, operations, and values.
