Pulsed Power Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Pulsed Power Electrical Design Engineer with circuit card, pulsed power, and control system development experience. The role focuses on developing automation solutions, power electronics hardware, and high-performance circuit designs for pulsed power and high-power microwave (HPM) platforms used in defense, aerospace, and high-energy research applications. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, software developers, and test engineers to create reliable, repeatable, and safe automated test and operation environments while leveraging deep power electronics expertise.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design and implement automation for pulsed power and HPM experiments.
• Develop control systems (FPGA, DSP, microcontroller, PLC, LabVIEW, Python, C / C++) for precise timing, pulse shaping, and safety interlocks.
• Integrate high-speed data acquisition hardware (PXI, NI FlexRIO, high-bandwidth ADC / DAC) with automated test scripts and monitoring dashboards.
• Design high voltage, high current, and high frequency power electronics modules (pulse forming networks, MOSFET / IGBT / SiC drivers, resonant converters, and bias networks).
• Produce schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using tools such as Mentor Graphics.
• Run SPICE, ADS, HFSS, COMSOL, or equivalent simulations for circuit performance, electromagnetic fields, and breakdown voltage verification.
• Model pulsed power dynamics, resonant cavities, and microwave feed line interactions.
• Develop automated test procedures, verification plans, and repeatable experiment sequences.
• Use automated data logging and post-processing (MATLAB, Python) to evaluate performance against specifications.
• Participate in hardware build, integration, troubleshooting, and final sign-off on design reviews and safety checks.

Ability to Work Remotely : Onsite Full-time : The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules : Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position : 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
