Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Location : Potsdam, NY 13676 (Northern New York healthcare job)

Setting : LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) Unit

Contract Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 16 / 2026)

Shift : Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07 : 00 – 19 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Pay : $2,270 - $2,330

Orientation : 16 hours

Patient Age Groups : Neonates, Infants, Adults

Average Births : 50 per month

Rooms : 8

Scrubs : Provided

Weekend Coverage : Every other weekend required

Charting System : Meditech / IntelliSpace Perinatal, EPIC (EPIC experience required)

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

Active New York Registered Nurse license (must be in hand)

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting

Previous travel nurse experience required (no first-time travelers)

BLS and NRP certifications required

EPIC charting experience required

Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Willingness to float within the healthcare facility as needed

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns in an LDRP setting

Perform sterile vaginal exams, triage obstetrical patients, and assist with both vaginal and cesarean deliveries

Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and utilize external fetal monitoring equipment

Administer blood products, antihypertensives, opioids, and manage pain for patients

Start and maintain peripheral IVs, operate infusion pumps, and monitor IV therapies

Conduct newborn assessments and provide parent education, including circumcision care

Deliver discharge teaching and education to new parents

Manage high-risk conditions such as diabetes mellitus, pre-eclampsia / eclampsia, and premature rupture of membranes

Maintain isolation precautions, proper PPE usage, and adhere to infection control protocols

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team using SBAR communication
