AECOM is looking for a Senior Chemist / Data Validation Specialist with experience validating data for organics and inorganics analyses. The position is based out of our Chelmsford MA office although the work may be done remotely. The selected candidate will be tasked with providing technical expertise and specialized consulting advice in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. The Chemists primary role will be to prepare Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) validate analytical data and write data validation reports.
The Chemist will assist proposal teams with selection of analytical methodology evaluate laboratory proposals and establish QA / QC parameters. They will work with laboratories to ensure data meets technical requirements and project data quality objectives. Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical as is the ability to work effectively with team members and independently. The selected candidate must be well organized have the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time and deliver on time and on budget.
The job responsibilities for this position include those listed above and may also include but are not limited to :
Lead laboratory solicitation evaluation and selection tasks.
Validate analytical data in accordance with published guidelines (DoD NFG Regional EPA)
Develop data validation procedures for unique analyses not addressed specifically in existing guidance documents.
Perform peer review of data validation reports and other project documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with project requirements.
Summarize analytical data quality in Data Usability Assessments (DUAs) at the conclusion of the project.
Provide training and guidance to entry and mid-level chemists.
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with limited supervision.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
BA / BS 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
BA / BS in Chemistry or related scientific field of study
10 years working in an environmental analytical laboratory and / or performing data validation
Experience with Department of Defense Quality Systems Manual for Environmental Laboratories Version 6.0
Experience validating data in accordance with Department of Defense Data Validation Guidelines and Modules
Experience writing CERCLA Sampling and Analysis Plans and UFP-QAPPs for EPA and DoD clients.
Experience with validation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) data
Understanding of operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g. ICP ICP-MS HPLC GC and / or GC / MS)
Experience with EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review
Familiarity with automated data review systems such as EDMS FUDSChem or EPA EXES
Familiarity with Earth Softs EQuIS database program
