Certifications : Certified and Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Clienttion Therapy. Must be certified and licensed by the state's Medical Imaging and Clienttion Therapy Program within 30 days of hire
Must-Have :
Must be a graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent.
Description :
Administers safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment.
Ensures accurate treatment delivery and data capture.
Demonstrates sound clinical judgment.
Adheres to accurate treatment and simulation delivery.
Gathers necessary set-up aids and prepares the room and equipment for patients.
Demonstrates necessary manual dexterity and psychomotor skills to operate and manipulate complex radiation-emitting treatment units.
Works under stress and pressure.
Adapts without difficulty to changes in work schedule or assigned area.
Visually monitors patients for unusual reactions and events and reports them.
Verbally reinforces advice regarding treatment reactions and care.
Refers patients to allied health specialists as needed.
Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
Complies with departmental quality assurance practices.
Visually ascertains that consent forms for radiation therapy are signed by the patient before treatment.
Monitors and maintains daily treatment records and machine quality assurance.
Adheres to portal image review / approval guidelines as required.
Verbal notifications to physics or engineering if measurements do not fall into accepted parameters.
Visually recognizes and reports erratic operation of equipment.
Checks prescription, set-up instructions, and patient information in records.
Attends planning clinic as assigned.
Ensures that clinical skills are learned and maintained for treatment and simulation delivery.
Demonstrates and adheres to maintenance of base competencies inclusive of performing calculations.
Accurate documentation and maintenance of competency assessment criteria.
Facilitates learning consistent with documented competency levels by attending lectures and seminars.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and professional behaviors.
Consistently works within the scope of practice and competency outlined in the Natural Progression Plan.
Participates in clinical instruction and evaluation.
Actively participates in education and assessment of students and practitioners.
Shares knowledge and skills with students and peers.
Participates in departmental learning initiatives and in-services.
Orients and teaches new students or therapists.
Participates in evaluations of students, assessing all objectives.
Completes internal variance forms for any error and forwards to the supervisor for follow-up.
Consistently adheres to all departmental policies concerning treatment, attendance, and dress code.
Adheres to effective time management practices.
Utilizes resources and manages supplies and equipment carefully.
Other duties as assigned.
