Portfolio & Value Manager
Join our client's dynamic team as a strategic Portfolio & Value Manager. In this role, you'll ensure initiatives align perfectly with member needs, team member success, and enterprise strategy while delivering measurable outcomes.
What You'll Do
As a Portfolio & Value Manager, you'll be the driving force behind value-based decisions throughout the portfolio lifecycle—from creative ideation to successful implementation. You'll translate strategy into action, ensure investment-ready initiatives, anticipate risks, and provide crucial visibility into portfolio health across the enterprise.
Responsibilities : Strategic Partnership
- Partner with business, technology, and governance leaders to translate strategic themes into initiatives with clear value hypotheses
- Coach leaders to enhance portfolio fluency and stewardship capabilities
- Navigate organizational dynamics, address resistance, and adapt messaging to influence stakeholders at all levels
Intake & Discovery
Evaluate initiative submissions for readiness, proper segmentation, and value clarityLead epic discovery by framing business problems, identifying risks early, and confirming investment readinessStep in as discovery coach when momentum slows or clarity is neededEnsure discovery outcomes are achieved for all investment candidatesInvestment & Prioritization
Provide expert guidance on segmentation, prioritization, and sequencing while balancing strategic priorities with portfolio capacityApply analytical judgment to evaluate initiative value, viability, feasibility, and risksCoordinate portfolio adjustments when delivery demands require scope changesImplementation Oversight
Monitor implementation to ensure alignment with intended value, scope, and impactAnticipate necessary pivots, escalate portfolio risks, and recommend course correctionsCollaborate with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, and Change Leaders to maintain outcome clarity during executionValue & Impact
Frame and track value expectations with stakeholders, focusing on measuring outcomes rather than just outputsConduct post-implementation value realization reviews and incorporate learnings into future portfolio cyclesProvide governance bodies and executives with insights into realized outcomes and key lessonsVisibility & Insights
Prepare comprehensive strategic portfolio health reviews and maintain Strategic Business roadmapsTrack and report portfolio status and progress toward initiative execution, including milestones and metricsSynthesize insights across intake, discovery, and implementation to highlight enterprise patterns and value signalsCreate executive-ready narratives that connect initiatives, enabling informed strategic decision-makingAnalyze portfolio data to identify risks, inform prioritization, and highlight resource constraintsBuild and maintain relationships with business units, team members, management, and external partnersQualifications and Education Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)SAFe Lean Portfolio Management Certification (or equivalent)Experience with portfolio management, product management, and executive communicationExperience
Proven ability to manage and advise large, enterprise-wide portfolios or initiatives, preferably in financial servicesDeep knowledge of portfolio management methodologies, strategic planning, and value realization practicesStrong understanding of Agile, Lean Portfolio Management, and value delivery modelsExperience in product development, portfolio governance, executive communication, and strategic value realizationCore Skills
