Customer Service Specialist
Performs well-defined clerical, fiscal, and accounting-related work in support of the Treasurer's office. Work involves accepting payments on taxes, utility accounts, DMV Select related work, dog tags, and other miscellaneous revenues. Employee is responsible for balancing daily receipts, researching accounts, preparing a variety of correspondence, and protecting the confidentiality of sensitive information. Employee must be able to respond to problems and complaints and assist taxpayers efficiently and effectively. Employee is responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist co-workers and other duties assigned by the Treasurer. Reports directly to the Treasurer.
Answers telephones, greets and assists customers; maintains confidentiality of taxpayer information under VA state code Sec. 58.1-3. Receipts, verifies, and processes in computer system all revenue collected. Assist collection efforts internally and with outside agencies. Composes, files, and prepares various correspondences.
General knowledge of computers, calculator, fax, postage machine, copier, and other office equipment. Ability to handle mathematical computations accurately and with reasonable speed. Ability to communicate effectively with others in giving and obtaining information.
Possession of a high school, vocational, or business school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for performance of the related work. Must be bondable. Successful completion of background check and pre-employment testing is a must.
