Design Engineer

Join a leading producer in the material handling and robotics system integration industry. We are expanding our engineering team in Greenfield, Indiana, focusing on custom automation engineering and manufacturing to enhance customer efficiency with tailored material-handling equipment.

• Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for custom equipment and system components.
• Perform hand calculations and engineering analyses to validate design integrity and performance.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including product specifications, testing procedures, and technical reports.
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews and collaborate with larger engineering teams.
• Estimate engineering effort required for assigned tasks and manage workload to meet project deadlines.
• Troubleshoot design challenges and propose solutions with increasing autonomy.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design iterations as needed.
• Communicate effectively with procurement, project managers, manufacturing teams, and external partners to ensure design intent is met.

• Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline.
• 3-7 years of experience in machine or automation equipment engineering.
• 3+ years of 3D Modeling Design experience with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and sheet metal.
• Proficiency in Solidworks or similar software.
• Experience in stress analysis and GD&T.
• 3+ years of 2D Drafting experience, including engineering, materials, FEA, and DFMEA.

• Machine design experience.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expertise.
• Solidworks Certification.

This is an onsite 1st shift role, Monday through Friday, with hours typically from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM ET. The role offers remote flexibility for life events post-training. Expect an 80% desk role and 20% shop floor role, troubleshooting equipment and machines. The work environment is casual, with employees often wearing jeans. The team is currently composed of 7 design engineers, aiming to expand to 14 members. The company is highly rated as an employer in Greater Indianapolis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenfield, IN.

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
