Pipelayer

As a Pipelayer, you will assemble, install, and repair underground pipes, manholes, vaults, and fittings. This includes, but is not limited to, metallic and plastic pipe, ductile iron pipe, steel pipe, and concrete pipe for water, sewer, and drain work.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare the area where the pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
• Assist Equipment Operators in the placement of pipes.
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around the pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes composed of metal, PVC, ductile, and concrete.
• Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, and plastic solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage.
• Measure and cut pipe.

Job Type & Location :

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
