Job Title : Medical Collector (Medicare Managed Care / Advantage Plan)

Location : New Orleans, LA – Fully Onsite 70114

Industry : Healthcare Revenue Cycle / Hospital Billing & Collections

Pay : $20 - $22 / Hour

Job Type : Contract-to-Hire

About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Medical Collectors with Medicare Managed Care / Advantage Plan expertise to join a large, well-established health system in New Orleans. This is a high-priority need with the goal of filling all open roles by year-end. Collectors will focus on Medicare A / R follow-up, denial resolution, and appeals to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. Candidates with strong facility billing / collections experience will also be considered for other openings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and manage outstanding Medicare accounts receivable to ensure timely follow-up on unpaid and underpaid claims
  • Research, analyze, and resolve claim denials and discrepancies through payer outreach and documentation submission
  • Prepare and file appeals in compliance with CMS and payer-specific guidelines
  • Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts to maintain accuracy
  • Collaborate with patients, insurance carriers, and internal departments to clarify coverage and resolve billing issues
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare regulations, payer guidelines, and billing compliance standards
  • Meet productivity and quality expectations as defined by leadership

Qualifications

  • Highly preferred : Hospital billing / collections and Medicare A / R experience
  • Knowledge of Medicare Managed Care / Advantage Plans and payer guidelines
  • Proficiency with DDE, Novitas, or similar Medicare portals (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of claims processing, denials, and appeals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented business office environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional Details

  • Schedule : Monday–Friday, flexible between 7 : 00 AM–4 : 30 PM
  • Environment : Business Office, fully onsite (initially prioritizing onsite candidates)
  • Training : Side-by-side training with Supervisor
  • Attire : Business casual
  • Start Date : ASAP – will adhere to a 2 week notice
