Registered Dietitian - Renal Nutrition Specialist

LOCATION : Dialysis Center - Spencerport

DEPARTMENT : Renal Dialysis Unit

SCHEDULE : Flexible 8 Hour Day Shifts; Monday to Friday

Position Summary :

Join our dedicated team in the Renal Dialysis Unit, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing the nutritional health of our patients. As a Registered Dietitian, you will access, plan, implement, and evaluate the nutritional care for patients at Unity Health System.

Key Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary Nephrology team to maintain and improve the nutritional status of patients.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff to promote coordinated nutritional care.
• Develop and assess nutrition education materials to enhance patient understanding.
• Counsel individuals and families on nutrition principles tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.
• Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments on chronic dialysis patients promptly.
• Review and assess clinical and laboratory data monthly, providing dietary counseling and proper documentation.
• Complete dietary sections of multi-disciplinary care forms within established timelines.
• Engage in patient care conferences and contribute to ongoing patient evaluations.
• Monitor Urea Reduction Ratio and perform kinetic modeling as necessary.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to team goals.
• Assist with the orientation and training of new staff while providing ongoing education.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Maintain respectful communication across all departments.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications :

Required Licensure / Certification Skills :

Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

EDUCATION :

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS :

CSR - Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition. RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Requires medium work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 25 pounds of force frequently.
