We are currently looking for a dedicated Electrical Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group based in Des Plaines, IL. This position is crucial for maintaining and enhancing electrical systems within various FAA facilities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include :
- Designing and planning electrical systems for FAA buildings and structures.
- Conducting on-site surveys to develop accurate designs and detailed reports.
- Testing and analyzing power systems while participating in construction and final inspections.
- Collaborating with engineering staff and other personnel to resolve design and implementation issues.
- Coordinating design components with a multidisciplinary team to produce necessary drawings and schematics for modifications and new construction.
- Preparing construction documents and independent cost estimates.
- Managing various project activities, including safety plans and cutover plans.
- Generating the Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC) and ensuring compliance with Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements.
- Coordinating Work Permits associated with potential lead and asbestos impacts during construction.
- Participating in stakeholder meetings to synchronize electrical systems with other ongoing construction projects.
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities to meet crucial milestones.
- Managing on-site cutovers, testing, and restoration of facilities.
- Providing regular updates on project progress to the team and stakeholders.
- Overseeing multiple projects to ensure timely completion.
- Reviewing contractor design submissions and performing internal design reviews of FAA electrical projects.
- Communicating effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Producing detailed general and technical documents and coordinating with various project stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in designing electrical systems at 120 / 208V and 480V.Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code for new constructions and modifications.Familiarity with electrical installation methods and techniques.Experience designing circuits for pumps, motors, and mechanical systems.Proficient in interpreting electrical distribution for various facilities.Experienced in load calculations.Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and AUTOCAD.Willingness to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.Preferred Qualifications :
