Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide daily living assistance, including personal hygiene, dressing, meals, and mobility as needed.
- Support behavioral and communication goals under the guidance of parents, therapists, or healthcare professionals.
- Engage patients in structured activities to promote learning, play, and social interaction.
- Encourage positive behaviors using reinforcement techniques as outlined in the individual's care plan.
- Monitor and report changes in behavior, mood, or health to the supervising nurse or case manager.
- Assist with transportation to therapy sessions, medical appointments, or community activities, depending on patient needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment within the home.
- Document care activities and patient progress according to agency or family guidelines.
Requirements
Current Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification as required by the state of Florida.CPR and First Aid certification (current).Prior experience working with populations with special needs, specifically developmental disabilities and autism, strongly preferred.Demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.Ability to follow and execute individualized care or behavior support plans meticulously.Reliable transportation and adherence to punctuality are essential.Valid Driver's License.Must hold or be willing to obtain liability insurance with a 1,000,000 policy and 300,000 aggregate.Completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as required by state law and professional regulations.Recent physical examination and testing (chest x-ray or PPD) to ensure health standards.A comprehensive background check is mandatory upon hiring.
