The Legal & Business Affairs team of Vox Media is seeking an Employment & Litigation Attorney who will be responsible for a wide array of employment & litigation matters.
Were looking for a business-minded attorney with deep experience in all aspects of employment law advising & experience with litigation.
This role will be the primary point of contact for the People team & will advise on all aspects of employment advising in the employee life-cycle.
In addition this role will help manage the litigation docket along with other team members.
This position reports to the VP, Associate General Counsel while working closely with other members of the Legal & Business Affairs department & internal business teams & leadership across the company.

WHAT YOULL DO
- Provide comprehensive & practical legal advice & counseling to our People team & managers on all aspects of the employee life cycle.
- Advise on federal, state & local employment laws & issues related to performance management & terminations, hiring, employee / contractor classification, DEI+, wage & hour, leaves, accommodations, discrimination / harassment, & other workplace issues.
- Provide advice & support for internal investigations & employee relations matters.
- Draft, review, analyze & negotiate employment-related agreements & policies, including our employee handbook & related policies, offer letters, deal memos, severance agreements, & bonus compensation plans.
- Collaborate with the People & Communications team on internal communications & advise on legal risks.
- Research & monitor developments in employment laws & develop & implement internal practices & policies to achieve compliance with applicable laws & regulations at the local, state, & federal levels.
- Assist with employment, copyright, defamation, & other claims. Work closely with outside counsel to review pleadings, advise on strategy, & support internal discovery efforts.
- Manage & work with outside counsel to support immigration matters.
- Assist with other legal matters as needs arise.
WHO YOU ARE
- JD from accredited law school & licensed to practice law & in good standing.
- 4+ years of relevant employment experience, preference for candidates with both law firm & in-house experience.
- Familiarity with employee benefits or unionized environments is a plus.
- Excellent written & oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, good judgment, & an ability to work both independently & in a highly collaborative environment.
- Experience interacting with & advising all levels of leadership, including summarizing risk assessments, communicating complex topics, & providing thoughtful business guidance.
- Ability to work both independently & collaboratively
- Resourceful & proactive, with a strong ability to balance legal risk with practical business needs.
- Proven ability to independently handle multiple projects, prioritize, & meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- Works well under pressure & manages multiple high priority projects & deadlines.
