Surface Preparation Technologies (SPT), LLC is seeking a full-time Heavy Truck / Equipment Mechanic. SPT is the industry leader in rumble strip equipment and installation. All SPT's equipment is proprietary and built / designed in house. If you enjoy problem solving and working on a variety of equipment, SPT could be the place for you! Duties and Responsibilities :
- Troubleshooting and maintaining heavy trucks and equipment including but not limited to
- Chevy / GMC, Ford, Kenworth, International, Mack, and Peterbilt Trucks
- Cummins, International, Isuzu, Mack and Paccar Engines
- Air and Hydraulic Brake Systems
- Allison Automatic and Eaton Manual Transmissions
- Wheel Ends and Axles
- Air Suspension Systems
- Dismounting and Mounting Tires
- Assist in the assembly and construction of new heavy equipment, ensuring all components are installed and functioning according to specifications.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply specialized processes unique to the company's equipment, including maintenance and repair procedures.
- General knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- General experience in welding steel and aluminum
- Knowledge of MIG required
- Knowledge of Oxy / Acetylene cutting required
- Travel to various states as needed to complete equipment repairs, which may require multi-day trips.
- Assist with operating equipment and driving trucks for rumble strip cutting projects in different locations, occasionally requiring extended time away from home.
- Learn and understand the various roles and responsibilities involved in rumble strip cutting operations as part of a field crew.
- Support crew members in the safe and efficient operation of specialized equipment and completion of assigned tasks.
- Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and worksite protocols.
- Ability to work overtime based on the demands of equipment needs.
- Knowledge of the DOT inspection process

Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or with a small teamMust have High School Diploma or GEDMust own basic tools for working on heavy trucks and equipmentAbility to lift 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. regularly5+ Years Experience working on heavy trucks and equipmentValid Commercial Driver's License 'A' or 'B' RequiredVehicle Class S-7 Inspection license a plusHave OSHA 10-Hour Certification training a plus.Previous experience operating forklift and able to obtain forklift certificationSPT is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
