Position Overview
As a Body Shop Technician Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced technicians and learn the hands-on skills needed to become a professional collision repair technician. Key Responsibilities
Assist technicians with disassembly, repair, and reassembly of vehicles.
- Learn and perform basic body repair techniques including panel replacement, panel repair, structural repairs, sanding, prepping, and priming.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support the team with parts organization, vehicle movement, and shop upkeep.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the company.
Quality Control :
Conduct thorough inspections of repaired vehicles to ensure all work meets quality standards.
Perform final adjustments and touch-ups as necessary.Test drive repaired vehicles to verify proper alignment and functionality.Tool and Equipment Maintenance :
Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and report any issues to management.Stay updated on new tools, technologies, and repair techniques.Safety and Compliance :
Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding vehicle repairs.Dispose of hazardous materials according to environmental regulations.Collaboration and Communication :Work closely with estimators to understand blueprinting repair plans and timelines.
Communicate with parts associates to ensure timely delivery of needed parts.Collaborate with other technicians and body shop staff to achieve efficient workflow.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in automotive repair is preferred.
Mechanical aptitude or prior experience working with tools preferred.Proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment, including welding machines, frame straighteners, and spray guns.Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and technical specifications.Excellent attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry parts and equipment up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.Ability to work in a body shop environment, which may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, and fumes.Work Environment
Primarily in a body shop environment.
May involve occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, depending on the season and shop conditions.We Offer
