A Cardiac Registered Nurse specializes in providing exceptional nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions. This role involves thorough assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of personalized care plans. You will also oversee non-nursing staff, serve as the charge nurse, and maintain high standards of patient-centered care and education. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care according to unit policies and procedures. You may take charge of unit activities and could be required to work across various nursing units based on patient and staffing needs.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.\n
- Create, communicate, and document individualized care plans that address patient issues and desired outcomes, involving patients, families, and the healthcare team in this process.\n
- Implement and coordinate the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team.\n
- Evaluate care effectiveness, patients' responses, and readiness for discharge, adjusting the care plan as necessary and making referrals as needed.\n
- Develop educational resources tailored to patients' and families' needs, documenting the outcomes of these educational efforts.\n
- Act as a preceptor for new staff members.\n
- Serve as a Charge Nurse when required.\n
- Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, and personal development as outlined in performance reviews.\n
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure seamless department operations.\n
- Possess a thorough understanding of policies governing care for patients monitored for cardiac arrhythmias.\n
- Demonstrate proficiency and knowledge of arrhythmia management.\n
- Exhibit competency in providing care to pediatric patients, considering their growth, development, and family-centered care principles.\n
- Display skill in the preparation and administration of pediatric medications, understanding appropriate dosages based on weight and age.\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation : Graduate from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software, including electronic patient records, and able to conduct online literature searches related to patient care.\n\nLicensure : Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut.\n\nSpecial Skills : BLS certification required.
