Cook

Position Overview :

Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) is seeking a dependable and skilled Nutrition Services Cook to join our Nutrition Services team. This role is responsible for preparing both hot and cold food items, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting kitchen operations. The Cook also serves as a team leader in the absence of the Nutrition Services Lead, Director, or Head Cook.

Key Responsibilities :

• Prepare hot and cold food items for patients, Meals-On-Wheels, Willow Ridge, and cafeteria services according to production sheets and tray cards.
• Review upcoming menus and prepare food items in advance, ensuring proper storage and handling.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including regular counter sanitization.
• Perform daily and weekly cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Serve customers in the cafeteria, process meal charges, and handle cash transactions.
• Operate dishwashing equipment and store clean dishes appropriately.
• Manage leftover food storage and utilization.
• Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures.
• Supervise tray line and kitchen activities in the absence of leadership staff.
• Attend monthly Nutrition Services and health system in-service trainings.
• Assist other staff members and perform additional duties as assigned.
