Role Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable facilities. This role works closely with the property management team and, in the absence of a Chief Engineer, serves as the primary contact for maintenance activities and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
Coordinate and manage vendors / contractors, ensuring quality work is completed on time and in line with contracts.
Utilize work order software to track, document, and complete maintenance tasks; maintain logs and records.
Respond to emergency situations and resolve building issues quickly and effectively.
Assist with inventory management, expense control, and identifying energy conservation opportunities.
Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Lead and support facilities staff in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience in commercial or medical office building maintenance.
High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and work order management systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design documents, and equipment specifications.
Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and building automation systems.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs / ladders, and perform extended walking.
Availability for 24-hour emergencies / on-call rotation and willingness to work overtime as needed.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
