Electronics Engineering Lab Manager

This Electronics Engineering Lab Manager provides leadership and technical expertise to repair, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain complex production and development equipment. The role supports manufacturing and engineering teams by ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and optimized performance. This position works closely with internal customers, trades, and shared services to prioritize daily work, support projects, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.
What You Will Do
Leadership & Management
- Hire, train, and develop department staff.
- Provide daily direction, prioritization, and employee support.
- Oversee scheduling and workload planning for the team.
- Conduct timely, constructive performance evaluations.
- Maintain timecards and basic employee administrative support.
- Provide safety leadership and enforce safe work practices.
- Organize workshops, technical training, and certification efforts for maintenance and test personnel.
Technical & Equipment Support
Supervise repair, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex production, test, and development equipment.Ensure equipment operates reliably and meets process, quality, and safety specifications.Perform or guide complex equipment installations, machine setups, and system modifications.Inspect equipment regularly and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.Conduct equipment inventories and arrange disposal of obsolete assets.Act as a subject matter expert for legacy, specialized, or high-complexity equipment.Engineering Collaboration
Provide advanced technical support and complex problem-solving for engineering teams.Develop, modify, and troubleshoot electrical systemsoften from incomplete informationworking with engineering and operations staff.Support system integration, verification, validation, and technical planning for total systems.Gather and interpret equipment specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.Review and estimate design, installation, labor, and material costs for equipment-related work.Technical Expertise
Advanced troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, motors, drives, and printed circuit boards.Measurement, calibration, and analysis of instrumentation for equipment setup and checkout.Ability to read, interpret, and create mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and wiring schematics.Strong understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E preferred.Fine electronics soldering proficiency.Experience with electronic software controls and system-level modifications.Documentation & Customer SupportCreate and maintain procedures and work instructions for equipment operation and maintenance.Train operators and technicians to ensure proper equipment use.Understand customer specifications to ensure compliance with production regulations and quality requirements.Support internal and external customer inquiries, audits, or investigations.Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experienceQualifications We Prefer
Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.7+ years of technical equipment experience.Experience with NEC and NFPA 70E.Experience with Electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair, Motors and drives, PCB troubleshooting and repair, Industrial equipment used in manufacturing, Instrumentation calibration.Ability to understand and apply mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system logic.Experience with electronic control software, equipment programming, and system modifications.What We Offer
