Description
The Advanced Warfare Technology (AWT) Division of Leidos is looking for a FPGA Digital Signal Processing Engineer to design, develop, simulate, and integrate innovative DSP FPGA designs and RF sensor systems based on specific program requirements. If you have a strong background in firmware design and are skilled at translating MATLAB designs into RTL while effectively incorporating client feedback, we want to hear from you!
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, and test advanced DSP FPGA designs for Electronic Warfare sensor systems.
- Evaluate project firmware requirements and devise firmware solutions that align with program needs.
- Develop, implement, and debug firmware, assessing performance and troubleshooting issues as necessary.
- Integrate client feedback into firmware revisions while managing budgetary and timeline constraints.
- Keep the firmware team informed about technological advancements and industry best practices.
- Lead the development of innovative reconfigurable Software-Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and associated systems for government agencies.
- Analyze high-speed digital and analog circuitry schematic diagrams related to FPGA-centric systems.
- Document and maintain requirements, engineering drawings, and configuration management policies for FPGA projects.
- Create project test plans and procedures, providing support for both lab and field testing efforts.
- Conduct experimental tests on the latest FPGA and SoC evaluation boards, analyze results, and draft specifications for next-generation components.
- Travel to remote sites may occasionally be necessary.
- Provide regular status updates to project managers and division leadership.

Basic Qualifications
Active US government Secret clearance.Ability to work full-time at our facility in Arlington, VA.Experience with FPGA Integrated Design Environment tools such as Xilinx Vivado and Mentor Graphics ModelSim.Familiarity with System on a Chip (SoC) implementations like Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+, Intel Stratix-10, and Xilinx RFSoC.Proficiency in hardware descriptor languages, HDL (VHDL, Verilog) and / or MATLAB models.Capabilities in design constraints generation, verification, and synthesis evaluation.Hands-on experience with signal processing concepts (FFTs, digital filters, modulation, etc.) applied within modular HDL designs.Knowledge of common signaling standards and protocols.Proficiency with hardware integration, testing, and debugging tools (high-speed logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.).Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in writing test software in C / C++ or assembly language for design validation.Experience with high-speed (>20GHz) design techniques.
Knowledge of ARM or RISC-V embedded processor-based SoC design.Experience in military / aerospace electronics development, particularly in radiation-hardened, space-grade FPGA designs.Expertise in high-speed digital hardware, embedded firmware, and miniaturized high-performance systems for EW applications.Experience in thermal management design for high altitude FPGA applications.Willingness and ability to obtain TS / SCI clearance.This position may require some travel and work at remote sites for limited periods.
