Job description

Overview

Engineer I - Roadway role at RK&K. Transportation Engineer with responsibilities in design, coordination and analysis of transportation facilities. Projects include, but are not limited to, new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
  • Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
  • Design temporary traffic control plans
  • Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
  • Support preparation and documentation of design deliverables
  • Support preparation of specifications packages
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on design challenges

Qualifications

  • Zero (0) to Two (2) years of experience in transportation design
  • Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineering Intern (E.I.) license or ability to obtain within six (6) months
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in teams

    • Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Roadway widening or new alignment design
  • Innovative intersection design
  • Sidewalk or shared use path design
  • Familiarity with CADD platforms, design software and Microsoft products
