Taste Ny Market Lead Store Clerk
The Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County Todd Hill Market Lead Store Clerk supports the Taste NY Market at Todd Hill Store and outdoor markets and related activities. Primary responsibilities include inventory management and use of Revel point-of-sale system, light receiving, restocking and merchandising display including cleanliness and appearance of fixtures and signage, maintaining vendor relationships, cash handling and cashiering, transportation of inventory to the store and other locations, customer service, food service and record keeping. Lead Sales Clerk must be able to perform all duties of Sales Clerks. The Lead Sales Clerk is expected to discuss Hudson Valley agriculture and local foods with customers to engage them in these areas and to provide information upon request about the food and farm products sold in the store. This position is required to check email regularly and reports to Todd Hill store location as basis point for work; additional local travel may be required.
Required Qualifications :
- Associates Degree or High School Diploma / GED and one year of relevant experience;
- 2 years retail sales experience;
- Ability to complete basic math in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work with the public;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a cash register;
- Ability to learn and use Revel Inventory and Point of Sale System;
- Ability to use or learn to use MS Word and excel;
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position;
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards;
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and / or weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications :
Inventory management at store level;Professional knowledge of grocer operations;Command of English language; writing skills; bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus;Microsoft Office proficiency (especially word and excel);Experience working in customer service and retail environments;Understanding of basic marketing;Order tracking;Ability to handle multiple tasks;Proficiency with internet based communications;Knowledge of the organization, operation, philosophy and objectives of Cooperative ExtensionKnowledge of agriculture and agricultural practices.Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
Administrative Responsibilities : Direction - 5%
Provide input to assist Market Manager with planning for merchandising, scheduling, training and inventory.Management - 5%
Ensure training and management of duties for Sales Clerk staff.Manage the inventory receiving process and advise any errors found to Market Manager.Coordination / Operation - 85%
Customer service greets, assists and serves the needs of store customers.Store inspection, organization and recordkeeping. Must assist in maintaining a clean facility.Replenishment of store supplies and inventory, including transportation of inventory to the store and other locations.Assist with product inventory management.Cash Controls and Cash Bank follow all procedures for cash controls and assist Market Manager and Assistant Market Manager with cash bank.Receive and log scheduled deliveries.Prepare purchase orders for concession, consumable and janitorial items.Assist with mass media efforts such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google business reviews.Assist with promotion of agri-tourism in Dutchess County and discuss Hudson Valley agriculture and local foods with customers.Work with vendors to learn about their products and train sales clerks about those products.Promote local farms, produce, food and products displayed to customers.Maintain equipment, troubleshoot if necessary and call for repair as directed.Professional Improvement - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and / or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.Health and Safety - Applies to all duties and functions
