Mail Processing - Driver
The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for a permanent position of Mail Processing - Driver at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, Washington, within the Mail Services Department. This position is the first line of protection for the facility through inspection of all incoming and outgoing packages and mail.
Washington Corrections Center (WCC) is located 35 miles west of Olympia, the state capitol. WCC is the Reception and Diagnostic Center, a close-custody facility with the primary responsibility to process, test, and classify all adult male felons sentenced to prison in Washington State. The facility has eight living units and houses approximately 1,500 incarcerated individuals. 600 incarcerated individuals are screened and assessed each month. WCC is also major hub for transfer of incarcerated individuals to and from facilities throughout the state.

This position supports DOC's mission to improve public safety through the visual, physical, and electronic inspection of incoming and outgoing mail and packages in effort to eliminate risks associated with unauthorized transfer of contraband materials and information across institutional boundaries.
The Mail Processor-Driver independently performs mail services including, collecting, screening sorting processing, and delivering domestic and foreign mail utilizing the US Postal Service, agency internal mail systems, and various ground and air shipping services.
