Special Education Teacher (SPED) Job Duties
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on student assessments and goals
Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in various educational settings
Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and related service providers
Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
Monitor, document, and report student progress toward IEP goals
Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current Alabama teaching certification in Special Education required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws
Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Alabama school districts
