What You'll Do :
As an MDS Director, you will manage the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments necessary for developing personalized resident care plans and ensuring accurate clinical reimbursement. Your focus will be on compliance with state and federal regulations for MDS completion and coding conventions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee the MDS program to ensure compliance and accuracy in assessments.
- Determine Patient Driven Payment Method (PDPM) and evaluate associated expenses for potential admissions.
- Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, identifying potential risks or changes that may affect reimbursement.
- Train and mentor MDS Coordinators, providing guidance and support.
- Coordinate and participate in comprehensive resident assessments and care planning.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for accurate data collection.
- Provide education to facility staff and leaders about ongoing MDS processes.
- Analyze assessment data to ensure compliance and identify strategic opportunities for optimizing reimbursement.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in nursing care.

Qualifications for the MDS Director include :
Valid state RN license preferred.Advanced degree or certification preferred.Experience in direct care within a long-term care setting and / or as an MDS Coordinator is required.Proficiency in state and federal regulations governing the MDS and billing process.Understanding of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), PDP, MDS 3.0, Medicaid, and Medicare requirements.Genuine interest in the nursing needs of aged and chronically ill patients.Detail-oriented, deadline-driven with strong organizational and analytical skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Ability to work effectively and influence others within a multidisciplinary team.We Hire for Heart!
