High School Teacher

Position Summary :
In collaboration with the High School Program Coordinator, the teacher will work closely with patients, families, the student’s Craig team, and school teams to communicate health and academic needs. The teacher will provide 1 : 1 instruction in the areas of math, science, writing, reading, and social studies, and support students by creating individualized learning plans. Prior to discharge, the teacher will create a school transition plan to support the return to school and will follow up, as appropriate.
Position Requirements :
- Licensure / Certification / Registrations : BLS for the Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required. Current teacher's license.
- Education : Bachelor's Degree in Education required; Endorsement in Special Education preferred
- Experience : 2+ years teaching at high school level required, 3+ years of experience strongly preferred.
- Skills & Abilities : Excellent organizational skills. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently but also collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities, prioritize appropriately, and manage frequent interruptions. Solid problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and excellent follow-through. Ability to design and implement lesson plans. Commitment to the use of data to drive instruction and raise student achievement. Record of strong communication with students, parents, and community members. Ability to relate to adolescents and adults with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities. Ability to present self in a personable and professional manner. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Ability to deal with diverse and confidential information with discretion and good judgment. Tech literate : Must have strong computer skills to maneuver a variety of high school learning platforms, be proficient in all Microsoft Office products; interest in current tech / educational trends, including AI.
Essential Functions :
Develop a school plan with students, parents, a home education facility and the clinical team.Plan and teach academic lessons; design and modify activities to meet student needs.Upon discharge, coordinate the student's transition back to school with recommendations for credits, accommodations and / or special education needs; attend school staff meetings as appropriate (e.g., 504 and IEP meetings). Educate the student and family regarding school resources / options upon discharge.Evaluate academic skills and / or readiness for GED; teach selected subjects / or review for GED; Schedule GED testing as appropriate.Provide appropriate feedback on work and communicate clearly with students, school administrators / teachers and parents regarding student progress and student needs.Use relevant technology and methodology to support and differentiate educational instruction.This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Per-Diem Positions :
Employees who are not benefit eligible due to working less than 24 hours / week or being Per-Diem are able to participate in Craig Hospital’s 403B Retirement plan through Empower Retirement. Salary Range : $27.56 / Hour — $39.68 / Hour
