AP Health is a private practice comprised of advanced practice providers. We provide perioperative services to hospitals, surgeons, and surgery centers. We partner with facilities to offer service line coverage with highly trained and knowledgeable Advanced Practice Providers to first assist in surgery.
AP Health is seeking a highly experienced Physician Assistant to serve as the Clinical Director of Cardiac Surgery in the greater Las Vegas area. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in cardiac surgery with strong clinical and leadership expertise. This is a hybrid role that combines surgical first-assist responsibilities with operational and program management duties, offering a unique opportunity to influence both patient care and service line growth within a distinguished team delivering top-tier care.
What You Will Do (Administrative) :
- Recruitment & Onboarding : Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs, assist in interviewing advanced practice providers and clinical staff, and lead onboarding / training initiatives to ensure smooth integration into the surgical team.
- Business Development & Physician Relations : Support service line growth by fostering relationships with referring physicians, participating in outreach efforts, and contributing to strategic planning for expanding surgical volumes and new service offerings.
- Operational Workflow Management : Oversee day-to-day coordination of surgical schedules, staffing coverage, and resource allocation; implement process improvements to maximize OR efficiency and optimize patient flow.
- Program Development & Quality Improvement : Lead initiatives focused on clinical outcomes, compliance, and patient satisfaction.
What You Will Do (Clinical) :
Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room for cardiac proceduresPosition and drape patients under the direction of the surgeonPerform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physicalsRound on post-op patients in ICU and step-down unitsParticipate in a rotating schedule for weekend and night CVOR coverageWhat Do You Need :
10+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assist in cardiac surgeryExperience in taking independent call3+ years of leadership experience as a Lead APP, supervisor, or in a managerial role within a surgical service line (preferred)Current Nevada State LicenseBoard certification by the NCCPA (for PAs) or relevant board (for NPs)Active BLS and ACLSStrong communication and interpersonal skillsA strategic mindset and ability to collaborate across departmentsBenefits
