Position Summary :
The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support within the Family Medicine department, assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care. The role primarily involves working with adult patients across various age ranges, with occasional interactions with younger patients as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Record patients' medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Prepare and maintain examination rooms and ensure all equipment and supplies are stocked.
Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider.
Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection as needed.
Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, and manage documentation to ensure efficiency.
Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, and preventive health measures.
Follow infection control and safety procedures consistently.
Support the clinical team with any other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) .
Must meet one of the following criteria :
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (minimum 160 hours) .
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program without a formal externship , but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five (5) years .
Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) .
Licensed Paramedic / Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five (5) years.
Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five (5) years.
Preferred Skills :
Experience working in Family Medicine or Primary Care settings.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
