Friday, 4pm-12amSUMMARYFamily Service League is seeking a full-time Advocate for a homeless shelter in Port Jefferson Station, NY. The Advocate will be responsible for conducting client assessments and assisting clients in achieving self- sufficiency through advocacy, counseling, and resource referrals. The Advocate will perform client intakes, unit and perimeter checks, and overall support for clients.

Bachelors Degree in a human services or related field preferred.Prior experience working with the homeless population is preferred.Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, is required.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are required.Ability to multi-task, be flexible and prioritize are required.Valid and clean NYS Drivers License required.Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as moderate lifting up to 10-15 pounds.
