Sox Compliance And Tax Accounting Manager
The Sox Compliance And Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for the Corporate Tax department's Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) responsibilities. This position also has responsibility for corporate income tax compliance and accounting for our Canadian operations.
The incumbent will support the Financial Reporting and Accounting teams / business units. Will interact with external auditors / advisors regarding tax accounting and audit / reporting issues. This associate will support the Director Tax Accounting in the consolidation and preparation of the world-wide tax provision and global monitoring income tax controls.
Responsible for corporate income tax compliance and tax accounting for Goodyear Canada. Involves preparation of corporate income tax returns, estimated payments, corporate income tax provisions, all income tax accounts and United States (U.S.) reporting requirements (including effective tax rate, FIN48, expense and cash forecasting). Stay updated on tax legislation / accounting implications - Communicating accounting implications to appropriate management.
Manage Corporate Tax department's SOX testing - Ensuring documentation is complete, gaps are identified, process owners remediate all deficiencies and testing results are summarized with characterization of deficiencies reported to management. Act as liaison for attest firm.
Support the Director International and Tax Accounting and Manager Global Tax Accounting with the global consolidation and review. This involves preparation of the annual effective tax rate (on a monthly basis), review of the global tax balance sheet accounts and working with legal entities and regional Finance teams on maintaining an appropriate control environment.
Support the Director International Tax with transfer pricing documentation. Support business unit with tax accounting on specific tax issues and special projects.
Management - Build and improve self and team : (1) Gain knowledge / insight to be "emergency ready" for all Tax Director positions (2) Mentor and develop Tax Analysts (3) Assist with identification, retention, training and development of a skilled workforce (4) Ensure individual objectives are aligned with business objectives.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
6 or more years of experience encompassing : (1) Federal (domestic / international) tax compliance with large multi-national corporation (2) Working knowledge of U.S. Federal (domestic / international), state, Latin America, Asia and Canada tax laws, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and international tax rules / practices (3) Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP deferred tax accounting rules
Experience working in a team environment (drawing upon collective ideas to develop meaningful strategies / plans)
Highly-skilled computer literacy (Enterprise Resource Planning [ERP] systems, Microsoft products, etc.)
Master's degree in tax, accounting or finance and or CPA.
