Summary of Job Duties :

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in in the combined Transitional Care (A7) and Short Stay (A4) units.

A7 / A4 is composed of 27 adult medical surgical beds collectively. The 14 bed Transitional Care Unit (A7) will provide care to patients who are deemed ready for acute care discharge from UAMS by their physician and have experienced a delay in discharge. The 13 bed Short Stay Unit on (A4) will provide care to medical-surgical patients that meet specific criteria for stability and are anticipated to discharge within 48 hours.

Qualifications : Required

Preferred

Employees in this role must be fitted for capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Key Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician works under the direct supervision of the RN and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs policies procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.
