Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech)
Position Summary :
The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and managing patient conditions. This role ensures patient safety, provides exceptional patient care, and supports a multi-specialty environment that includes orthopedic, neurosurgical, and pain management services. Proficiency with C-arm fluoroscopy equipment is essential.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical & Technical Duties :
- Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
- Operate and position C-arm fluoroscopy equipment for surgeries and procedures, including orthopedic, neuro, and pain management cases.
- Work collaboratively with surgical and clinical teams to support real-time imaging needs in procedure rooms or OR environments.
- Ensure proper radiation safety practices for patients, staff, and self (compliance with ALARA standards).
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot radiologic and C-arm equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
- Verify patient identification, review medical history, and follow appropriate documentation procedures.
Patient Care :
Provide clear instructions to patients before, during, and after imaging exams or procedures.Deliver compassionate and professional care to patients of diverse backgrounds and health conditions.Anticipate and support patient needs in a surgical / procedural environment; monitor condition and respond to emergent situations.Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards.Administrative & Compliance :
Accurately document procedures and maintain patient imaging records in EHR / PACS systems.Maintain required certifications, licensure, and continuing education.Follow federal / state regulations, facility policies, and accreditation standards.Participate in quality assurance initiatives, safety programs, and team meetings.Qualifications : Required :
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (A.A.S. or Certificate).ARRT (R) certification or certification eligible with completion within required timeframe.Valid state Radiologic Technologist license (if applicable).BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.Demonstrated experience operating C-arm fluoroscopy equipment.Preferred :
1+ year of radiography experience, especially in orthopedic, neurosurgical, or pain management settings.Experience in an OR or procedural suite.Familiarity with PACS, EHR, and digital imaging systems.Additional certifications (e.g., CT, MRI, Mammo, DEXA) are beneficial.Skills & Competencies :
Strong knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiation physics, and fluoroscopy safety.Ability to anticipate surgeon / physician needs during C-arm procedures.Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.Strong critical thinking, organization, and time management abilities.Team-focused approach with the ability to collaborate across clinical departments.Ability to lift, position, and transfer patients and equipment.About Jax Spine & Pain Centers :
