Job Summary / Objective The Hazardous Materials Warehouse Operator plays a vital role in maintaining efficient warehouse operations while specializing in the safe handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials.
This position involves managing inventory, preparing shipments, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will spend at least half their time in warehouse operations, including operating warehouse equipment and maintaining accurate inventory records through barcode systems, while also handling specialized hazardous materials operations.
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, supporting both internal operations and customer service needs while adhering to all DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company regulatory policies.
This role requires a current and valid CDL with both tanker and hazmat endorsements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following : Warehouse will be the primary focus, with at least half the time spent with these responsibilities. Prepare and load delivery trucks with accuracy and efficiency Receive incoming products and stock inventory in designated locations Monitor and manage inventory levels using barcode scanning systems Provide customer assistance and support as needed Perform routine site maintenance and ensure warehouse cleanliness and organization Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly forklift inspections and maintenance in accordance with OSHA requirements Safely handle and store hazardous materials, ensuring proper labeling, containment, and compliance with OSHA and EPA standards Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading (BOLs) and manifests for hazardous materials Deliver products to dairies and other locations while following all DOT regulations and company safety policies Participate in emergency response procedures, including spill containment and incident reporting when necessary Communicate with warehouse management regarding inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, and potential safety hazards Maintain compliance with all municipal, state, and federal regulations, promptly reporting any non-conformities Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HACCP guidelines Adhere to UDA quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) policies and procedures, reporting any deviations Complete additional tasks as assigned to support operational needs Qualifications : General Skills & Abilities needed to complete job successfully : Working knowledge of warehouse operations and procedures Proficiency in forklift operation and safety protocols Strong organizational and time management capabilities Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to read, comprehend, and execute both verbal and written instructions Effective communication skills including listening, speaking, and comprehension General knowledge of mechanical and instrumentation equipment Understanding of DOT regulations for hazardous materials transportation Ability to operate 10-speed transmission for delivery operations Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards for hazardous materials handling Ability to maintain accurate documentation and compliance records Must be able to work 8-10 hour shifts Ability to work effectively in both warehouse and delivery environments Requires ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions Experience : (required) HAZMAT certification or willingness to obtain DOT certification for hazardous materials transportation CDL license with tanker and hazmat endorsements Previous warehouse or industrial work experience Education / Certifications : (if n / a is applicable please note “N / A) Required Preferred Education (degree / certifications) High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent Fork truck certification BENEFITS : Medical, Dental & Vision plans 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match Disability Insurance Life Insurance Employee Assistance Program Health & Wellness Programs Paid Time Off Shift Pay Differential Education Assistance On-site Fitness Center On-Site Health Clinic The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list; employees may be subject to additional, or altered, tasks and the scope of the role may change as necessitated by business demands.
