Position Summary :
The School of Engineering request letters of application for the next executive director of the ETHOS center. The executive director position is a full-time twelve month leadership and administrative position reporting to the dean of the School of Engineering and includes teaching a course each semester. All tenured UD faculty and staff are eligible to apply.
The Executive Director of the ETHOS Center provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for this signature program aimed at advancing community engaged learning within the University of Daytons School of Engineering. The ETHOS Center is dedicated to advancing engineering for the common good by facilitating transformative hands-on learning experiencesprimarily through international and domestic immersions and breakoutsthat connect students with communities of need. The Executive Director ensures the Center remains true to its mission as a unique engineering-focused community engagement hub rooted in the Catholic and Marianist values of service justice and inclusive excellence.
The Executive Director will cultivate and sustain partnerships steward resources and foster a dynamic environment where students develop intercultural competence technical expertise and a deep sense of global citizenship through sociotechnical immersions and development of just and sustainable technologies to advance engineering for the common good. The Executive Director will leverage their own skills creativity and professional judgment to collaboratively shape the next chapter of the ETHOS Center ensuring it continues to provide unparalleled opportunities for student growth and community impact while remaining attentive to financial realities and operational effectiveness.

Bachelor degree in engineering engineering technology applied science or related field and a minimum of 8 years of community engagement and relationship-based work OR a Masters degree and a minimum of 5 years of community engagement and relationship-based work
Record of teaching leadership or scholarship related to community engaged learning and social justice
Experience working with students at the collegiate level
Experience leading inclusive collaboration efforts and promoting a shared vision
Experience in partnership development (internally and externally)
Two years of supervisory experience
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Cultural humility and knowledge of equity and social justice frameworks in alignment with the University of Daytons Catholic Marianist mission
Preferred Qualifications :
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following :
Demonstrated success in building domestic and international community engaged learning programs at the collegiate level
Demonstrated progressive responsibility including leadership strategic planning assessment and program management
Demonstrated successful administrative experience
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
Demonstrated successful presentation and facilitation skills
Demonstrated successful experience working with persons from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
