Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Whole Child Wellness is a pediatric therapy clinic that offers neurodiversity affirming and trauma-informed support for children and families across the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. Children who may benefit from our services include those with sensory processing differences, developmental delays, mental health issues, Autism and ADHD or other neurodivergence. We see strengths first and support children with their executive functioning, daily living skills, friendships, learning, communication and behavior. Specialties include helping families learn to use sensory processing interventions at home, assisting with referrals for a further diagnosis, and making activities of daily living (ADL) easier by considering the person, environment and occupation they need help with! Our OT department uses a variety of methods including traditional occupational therapy, sensory integration, DIR Floortime, therapeutic music therapies, oral-motor / feeding therapy, a variety of handwriting / fine motor curriculums, pelvic floor OT and yoga / mindfulness / nature as tools! We have many established contracts in the community so you can experience a mix of B-3, preschool and outpatient patients.

• Role Description

We are seeking a COTA who loves working with pediatric clients and their families. This is a part-time, on-site role for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant located in Spearfish, SD. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will work with occupational therapists to implement treatment plans for children with various disabilities. The assistant will also observe, document and report childrens progress or reactions to treatment and changes to the occupational therapists.

• Qualifications
• Associate degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistance or a related field
• Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification
• Registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and licensed in the state of South Dakota or eligible for South Dakota licensure
• 2+ years experience in pediatric occupational therapy is preferred
• Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
• Knowledge of various communication disorders in children and evidence-based interventions.
• Familiarity with assessment tools and techniques for pediatric populations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with children, parents, and other professionals.
• Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation and progress reports.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children and helping them overcome communication challenges.

Compensation and Benefits :
