Job Description – Vortex Spinning Technician
Position Summary
Vortex Spinning Technician is responsible for performing all general repairs and assigned PMs on the Spinning Frames. Must be proficient in the use of hand tools.
Essential Functions

Patrols job repairing flagged ends and performing all general repairs on Vortex Spinning Frames.Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all breakdownsPerform scheduled maintenance on spinning frames. Fill out PM checklistCheck machine and waste IDs dailyTechnician must be capable of making changes to the spinning frames for samples, lot changes and count changesMake necessary adjustments to machine to ensure a quality productProvide lab with yarn samples as needed for quality checks or as needed for lot set-upMust be available for overtime when requiredRemove waste from spinning area in accordance with plant waste reduction and control proceduresReplace missing, worn and broken parts as neededMake sure machine is locked out before any work occursMake proper adjustments to ensure a quality productMaintain a clean and safe working areaPerform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Essential Skills and Experience
Standing - 7 1 / 2 hours concrete floorClimbing – Uses 3 step ladder to perform some dutiesMoving - moves about in an area covering Vortex spinning frames while performing dutiesMoving Materials – Carries supplies from supply room to Vortex spinning area. Moves tools between spinning locations. Removes waste to staging area.Hearing / Speaking - must be able to communicate with can haulers, operators and Shift SupervisorReaching – Must reach approximately 5-6 feet while working on machineryVisual Acuity -Must be able to read printed material, machinery ID and displaysMust be able to see Quality and Mechanical problemsMust not be color blindBending / Stooping – Frequent bending and stooping while performing duties.Lifting – Assists in lifting machine parts up to 75 to 100 lbs.Beneficial Skills and Experience
