Position Summary / Essential Duties :
- Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
- Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
- Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
- Educates patient / family / caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.

Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.Qualifications
Education :
MA or MS Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited graduate program
Required Credentials, License, and / or Certifications :
Licensed by the State of Ohio, Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
Experience & Knowledge :
Requires the evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Speech-Language Pathology services appropriate to the developmental / chronological age of patients on their caseload.
Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge :
Must have professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills.Must be physically, cognitively and perceptually able to provide patient treatment and be able to assist in patient transfers and handle equipment.Physical Demands
