American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a telemetry observation position on a busy acute care unit with a focus on adult and geriatric populations, requiring previous travel experience and strong Med-Surg / Telemetry skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 32-bed acute care telemetry observation unitTreat primarily adult and geriatric patients with respiratory and general medical conditions, including trach care (not vented)Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 6Day shifts (6 : 45 am - 7 : 15 pm) with every other weekend and rotational holidays requiredUnit uses the Epic EMR systemMonitor Techs are available 24 / 7, and Charge RNs read EKG strips; RNs must also review telemetry strips each shiftFloat to other Med-Surg units or the Emergency Department may be requiredCommon titratable drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Lasix, low-dose Dopamine, and AmiodaroneRNs are responsible for providing comprehensive care, including titrating cardiac drips and performing trach careTravelers may be asked to serve as Charge RN and will be cross-trained if willingFull day nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor are providedSolid navy scrubs are required; no embroidery or patterns allowed; closed-toe shoes onlyFloating to designated units is determined by need and staff rotationHoliday shifts are assigned in rotation, considering those worked the previous yearNo local travelers permitted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles away from the facilityPrevious employment with WVU Medicine requires a 2-year break before reapplying as a travelerTravelers may not work more than one year within WVU Medicine without a 2-year break\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience in Med-Surg / Telemetry settings with experience in critical drips and trach carePrior travel RN experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredExperience titrating IV drips and reading telemetry / EKG strips is necessaryExperience with Epic EMR is preferredPeritoneal Dialysis experience preferred\n Benefits\n
